Discover Craighead Howfs

Your Perfect Glamping Retreat

Welcome to Craighead Howfs, a traditional Scottish stone-built farmhouse and steading near Dunblane, Perthshire. Built circa 1750, Craighead has been our family home since 1990. Over the years, it has become a favourite gathering place for family and friends, and we are delighted to share it with you.

Our journey into glamping began with the Muckle Howf, and many guests who stayed have returned time and again. Nestled in the quiet countryside, Craighead offers a delightful holiday destination, whether you seek relaxation or a base to explore Scotland’s finest attractions.

What makes Craighead Howfs special is its unique setting combined with the high standards we maintain. Surrounded by natural gardens, a lochan, and woodlands, we offer wonderful views, stunning sunsets, and the utmost privacy. Despite our secluded location, we are ideally situated for easy access to Scotland’s top tourist spots.

Experience the Charm of Our Unique Glamping Accommodations

Our glamping accommodations are some of the quirkiest and most unique in Scotland, each uniquely designed and built by us. From the enchanting Wee Howf and the garden-immersed Summer Howf to the historic Whisky Howf and the lofty Ash Tree Howf, every stay promises a distinct experience. Our accommodations are scattered throughout our grounds, offering personal spaces to enjoy the countryside and wildlife.

We have lived at Craighead since 1990, lovingly restoring the house and buildings and creating the lochan, grounds, and gardens. As avid campers and nature enthusiasts, we ventured into glamping in 2014 with the Wee Howf. Since then, we’ve added more unique stays, including the newly upgraded Wee Tree Howf, now a fine tree house.

We are Ian and Heather, along with our family and grandchildren. We met long ago, worked and travelled, and eventually found Craighead. We moved here with our two boys, Lewis and Arran, and later welcomed our daughter, Hayley. Over the years, we renovated the house and buildings, tended the gardens, and gathered a variety of animals. Our love for camping and the countryside inspired us to create these unique glamping experiences, evolving alongside Ian’s joinery business.

Our goal is to offer unique places for guests to stay, providing personal spaces in the grounds and garden to enjoy the countryside and wildlife. Despite our secluded setting, a short car journey takes you to many great places to visit.
