Nestled in the heart of Perthshire, Scotland, just outside Dunblane and within easy reach of Stirling, the Wee Tree Howf is a truly unique, adult-only glamping retreat. Originally created in 2014 as our very first extraordinary howf, it has since evolved into a Swiss Family Robinson-style treehouse escape, perched above a tumbling burn and beside a peaceful lochan. Surrounded by nature and handcrafted with care, it offers a memorable stay unlike anywhere else in Scotland.
This secluded retreat is perfect for switching off, slowing down, and reconnecting with nature. Meanwhile, the peaceful setting beside the lochan makes it easy to fully unwind. To make your stay even more relaxing, you can also enjoy the traditional Ofuru wood-fired hot tub beside the lochan, available for an additional charge of £35 per night.

Overlooking the lochan and surrounding countryside, it’s a place designed for peaceful mornings, quiet evenings, and uninterrupted time together. Inside, the wood-burning stove keeps the treehouse warm and inviting, while the comfy double bed creates the perfect place to relax after a day exploring Perthshire. Meanwhile, the pulley fridge basket hanging in the burn keeps your drinks chilled and ready for a relaxed evening under the stars.

In keeping with the unique design of the retreat, the private composting toilet and shower room are accessed directly from the balcony area of the treehouse.

- Private shower, compost toilet, wash hand basin in adjacent cabin
- During winter months and whenever weather falls to freezing the water is turned off – you have full use of the facilities within the wash howf.

- Access to grounds and gardens and to visit the animals and wander along the path past the Ash Tree Howf down to the Hobbits. Wander past the Whisky Howf and up to the top of the garden by the Summer Howf and past the Wee Shop

The Wee Tree Howf is a popular treehouse retreat, so availability is limited, especially during peak seasons. We recommend booking early to secure your preferred dates. Pricing
£245 per night, with a minimum stay of two nights.
The wood-fired hot tub is available as an optional extra at £35 per night, with a minimum two-night booking. If you would like to add the hot tub to your stay, please contact us once your booking is confirmed to arrange this.
The hot tub is heated using a traditional wood-fired system and requires time and care to prepare. It is checked daily, and drained, cleaned and refilled between each stay to ensure a fresh experience for every guest.

A narrow wooden staircase leads to the elevated bedroom, where beautiful views across the lochan and surrounding countryside await. Just across the small bridge over the burn, you’ll find a private composting toilet and spacious shower room, completing the off-grid treehouse experience.

As evening settles in, gather around the fire pit and listen to the sounds of the countryside around you. The gentle bubbling of the burn, rustling leaves, and distant calls of wildlife create a peaceful and atmospheric retreat. Inside, the wood-burning stove keeps the treehouse warm and cosy, while the slipper bath offers the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Perthshire.
Outside, the barbecue and open fire area beside the lochan invite you to enjoy relaxed outdoor dining beneath the stars. For an extra touch, use the pulley system to retrieve a perfectly chilled drink from the ‘fridge in the burn’. As you relax beside the fire, take in the stunning countryside views and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Beyond the Wee Tree Howf, the Craighead Howfs grounds offer two acres of gardens, countryside, and wildlife to explore. You’ll meet a variety of friendly animals, including our Highland cows, alpacas, pygmy goats, Valais Blacknose sheep, ducks, geese, emus, and other quirky residents around the smallholding.
If you’re feeling adventurous, the surrounding Perthshire countryside offers beautiful walking routes, wildlife spotting opportunities, and stunning Scottish scenery right on your doorstep.
What You Need to Bring
To make the most of your glamping escape, bring a few essentials with you. Slippers will help keep you comfortable indoors, while a torch is useful for moving around after dark. A camera is highly recommended to capture the beautiful scenery and memorable moments during your stay.

Children & Pets
The Wee Tree Howf is an adult-only retreat, designed for peace, tranquillity, and uninterrupted relaxation. To protect our resident farm animals and wildlife, pets are not permitted.
However, we understand that assistance dogs provide essential support. Please contact us in advance and we will always do our best to accommodate your needs wherever possible.

Arrival is from 3:00 pm, and departure is by 10:00 am. If you know your estimated arrival time, please let us know using the booking form comments box when completing your reservation.
